Chinese Shar-Pei History
The Chinese Shar-Pei, also known as the “Chinese Lion Dog”, is a breed of medium-sized, hairless dog with a distinctive lion-like appearance. This ancient, distinctive-looking breed is believed to have been first developed hundreds of years ago in China to hunt lions and tigers. This fearsome looking and formidable hunter was, however, usually unsuccessful in its attempts, as lions and tigers were rather better at hunting the Shar Pei.

Chinese Shar-Pei Activity Requirements
The Chinese Shar-Pei is an ancient breed of dog that originated in China. They are known as the “lion dog” and were once used to hunt large game, such as wild boar. The Shar Pei is an active, intelligent, and independent breed that needs plenty of exercise and attention. They are best suited to homes with yards and owners who can provide enough exercise and companionship for this demanding dog. Prospective owners must be prepared to meet a Shar-Pei’s physical and social needs. This is not a low-maintenance pet. Their large size and active lifestyle means they need a great deal of care.
