Ganaraskan Temperament and Behaviour

The Ganaraskan, sometimes referred to as the Lapphund, is a primitive, spitz-type hunting dog from Finland. This breed is friendly and gentle, but can be very stubborn. They are independent and prefer to be outside exploring than inside with their owners. They are highly suspicious of strangers but are generally good with children of all ages and other household pets.

Ganaraskan Activity Requirements

The Finnish Lapphund, more commonly known as the “Lap,” is a herding dog that is known for its intelligence and versatility. They are often trained as service dogs and, while they are not as high energy as some breeds, they still require a lot of exercise. A daily walk or jog will help keep your Lapp happy and healthy. They enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities and will do well in homes with yards. If you live in an apartment, your Lapp might enjoy a game of fetch in a hallway or a large, fenced-in area. The Lap is not a high-energy dog that enjoys running and jumping. They do, however, require regular exercise and mental stimulation. This makes them a particularly good choice for new or inexperienced dog owners.
