German Shorthair Toller History

The German Shorthaired Pointer is a breed of gundog that originated in the 1500s and is the state symbol of Germany. This medium-sized, powerful, and agile dog is known for its endurance, intelligence, and friendly temperament. The origin of the German Shorthaired Pointer is unknown, but it is believed that they were probably developed from the Spanish Pointer and the English Setter. The first recorded mention of a German Shorthaired Pointer was in 1822, when a young pointer named “Czar” was exhibited at the Prussian-Royal Society of Berlin. The breed was officially recognized in 1879.

The German Shorthair Toller is a loving and devoted dog that is highly protective of his family. They are highly trainable, but can sometimes be stubborn. They are happiest when living with another animal or person.

German Shorthair Toller Activity Requirements

The German Shorthaired (or Wire Haired) Pointer is a high-energy dog that loves to play. They have a lot of energy, so they will need plenty of exercise and attention. A German Shorthaired Pointer will need about an hour of exercise each day. This can be made up of several short walks, or a longer one. Be sure to take your GSP’s age, health, and energy level into account when determining how much and how often you should play and exercise. A German Shorthaired Pointer will appreciate having a yard where they can run and swim. If you live in an apartment, you will need to take your dog for long walks or runs every day.
