Harlequin Pinscher History

The Harlequin Pinscher is a medium to large-sized, short-haired, wirehaired and longhaired all-American hybrid breed of canine. The fluffy coat is harlequin in color and comes in a variety of color patterns including solid, pied, and the tricolor, or “harlequin” pattern. The Harlequin Pinscher is a fairly new American dog that was created in the 1970s, when two closely related breeds, the Standard Schnauzer and the Miniature Pinscher, were crossed. The Standard Schnauzer and Miniature Pinscher were two of the most popular breeds in America before the cross was made, and the offspring of the breeding quickly gained popularity as well. The Harlequin is a popular showdog, and is recognized by the United Kennel Club, the American Canine Hybrid Club, and the Canadian Kennel Club.
