Labany History
The Labrador Retriever is a medium sized, short-coated, hypoallergenic gundog. The Labrador’s ancestors were Newfoundlands and St. Johns water dogs. The ancestor of the Labrador Retriever was a cross between the St. John’s water dog and a now extinct type of black retriever that originated in Newfoundland. The Labrador was selectively bred to develop into the versatile gundog we know today, fit for retrieving and assistance in a variety of tasks. The origin of the name “Labrador” is disputed. One theory is that it was named after an actor, Charles Calvert Labadie, who played the part “Uncle Josh” in the stage drama, Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Another theory, which is equally likely to be true, is that “Labrador” is a reference to “labradors”, meaning “students” or “pupils”, which were used to retrieve items from the classrooms of Oxford University.

Labany Temperament and Behaviour
The Borzoi is a very intelligent, independent, and dignified breed of dog. They are full of energy and stamina, and love to be on the move. They are often aloof with strangers, but are generally playful and good-natured. They are known to be stubborn and difficult to housebreak, so patience and consistency is important when raising a Borzoi.
Labany Activity Requirements
The LaBany is a small, sturdy, and compact dog that originated in Switzerland. Originally a herding dog, these dogs are intelligent, courageous, and hard-working. LaBanys are not very active, but they do enjoy brief spells of vigorous play. They usually prefer to stay close to home rather than go on long walks or runs. However, they do love a romp in the backyard every once in a while. While they may not be the most athletic of dogs, they do make wonderful companions for people who love to spend time outdoors. If you are looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion, a LaBany may be the perfect dog for you.
