Miniature French Schnauzer History

The Miniature French Schnauzer, or MSK, is a toy or miniature variant of the standard-sized and show-bred schnauzer. The MSK is characterized by its diminutive size—it typically weighs between 5 and 7 lbs. (2.3 and 3.2 kg) and stands 12 to 15 inches (30 to 38 cm) at the withers. The schnauzer is thought to have originated from a multiple-breed dog, called a “Rottweiler Wolfspitz”, that was developed by the monks of the St. Hubert Monastery in the 1600s. The MSK comes in a variety of colors, most commonly black, white, and tan, but may also come in red, brindle, and silver.
