The Moscow Watchdog is a breed of small, muscular, short-haired white coated working dogs that were developed in Russia. The Moscow Watchdogs have very short, smooth backs, and long, flowing coats. The coat is coarse to the touch, but silky in texture. Coat colors include white, black, red, and gray. The ears are triangular in shape, and are set high on the withers. The muzzle is straight and dark in color. The eyes are dark and almond-shaped. The tail is set low on the croup, and curls over the back. The legs are strong, and the feet have strong, arched toes. The Moscow Watchdog is an intelligent, outgoing, and friendly dog. The dogs are very active and make great companions for families with children. This affectionate and playful canine is particularly good with children and other dogs. The Moscow Watchdog is highly intelligent and very easy to train. The dogs are excellent watchdogs and are fearless, courageous, and protective of their family. The dogs get along well with other animals, including cats. The Moscow Watchdog is generally very healthy, and tends to live between 12 and 14 years.
Moscow Watchdog Physical Characteristics
The Moscow Watchdog is a medium-sized, long-eared breed of domestic dog that originated in Russia. It is closely related to the Samoyed, Chow-Chow, Akita, and Siberian Husky. The breed is medium sized, with a height at the withers of 18 to 20 inches, and weight of 50 to 70 pounds. It has an elongated, narrow head with erect prick ears, and thick, double-layered, heavy, straight or wavy hair. It has a broad, muscular neck and a large, deep, powerful and well-proportioned chest. Muscular, well-knit, well-developed legs are set squarely under the body, with a long, strong, arched, and supple back. The tail is docked, and when natural, it is carried level with the back or curled over the back when relaxed. It has a heavy, coarse, shaggy outer-coat and a thick, soft, undercoat. All colors are permissible, including white, and patches or brindling of any color are also allowed. The nose is large and black; the lips are strong, and the teeth meet in a scissors bite. The breed is easy to groom, and is average in shedders. The breed is intelligent, calm, affectionate, and loyal to its family, and is playful with children. It is an active, friendly and alert watchdog, and is usually reserved with strangers. It is a good companion and guard dog.
