Pooahoula History
The Pooahoula is a relatively recent American canine hybrid that is the result of a cross between a Standard Poodle and an American Pit Bull Terrier. The Pooahoula is a fairly new breed of hound created by crossing the American Pit Bull Terrier with the standard poodle. The dogs were first bred in 2006 by Kathy Bradley. The origin of both the Pitbull and the Poodle is debated, though most experts agree that the Pitbull descended from the Old English Bulldog, a fighting and baiting dog. The origin of the Standard Poodle is a little more mixed. Some sources suggest that it descends from the Airedale, while others claim that it descends from Italian Water Dogs.
