Portuguese Sheepdog Activity Requirements
Portuguese Sheepdogs, or Porties, are loyal, intelligent, and friendly. They are a herding breed that originated in Portugal. While they are not as high-energy as some other breeds, they still require regular exercise. Most Porties will need at least one hour of vigorous exercise per day, but this can be broken up into several shorter sessions. They are also very well suited to many dog sports, such as obedience and agility. While they aren’t overly demanding, it is important to take your Portuguese Sheepdog’s energy level into account when exercising them. They are very intelligent, so they enjoy having a job to do. This, along with their need for regular exercise, makes them better suited for a home with an active lifestyle.
