Silky Coton History
The Silky Terrier is a small, compact and silky-coated, friendly and energetic terrier. The Silky-Coton is a wire-haired, smooth coated variation of the standard Coton de Tulear. The Silky-Cotons coat is silky to the touch, and falls straight to about 5 inches (13 cm). The colour of the coat is white with brown markings – hence the name. There is some debate as to whether the true origin of the name is from the French “Cotton”, or from the English “Silk”.

Silky Coton Temperament and Behaviour
The Silky-Coton is a charming and sweet-natured breed of domestic dog. They are friendly and gentle, and love nothing more than having lots of cuddles and attention. They are highly trainable and excel at most activities, but they love to be with their people. They love to play with children, but can get rough at times. They get along well with most other household pets as well.
Silky Coton Activity Requirements
The Silky-Coton is a sweet and playful dog that makes a great pet. They love to snuggle, but they are usually not very active. They are content to spend much of the day sleeping or lounging around. While this makes them a great apartment dog, they do need regular exercise in order to stay healthy. A brisk walk or short play session is usually enough. If you are looking for a laid-back, gentle companion, a Silky-Coton may be right for you. While they don’t require much physical exercise, they do require regular interaction with their owners. They are sensitive and need to know they are loved.
