The Smooth Fox Terrier is a small, medium-large size breed of dog that is part of the Toy group. The Smooth Fox Terrier was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 2006. The breed descends from the Old English Black and Tan Terrier, the Kerry Blue Terrier, and the Airedale. The breed was also referred to as the Black and Tan or the Brandy and Tan. The mature male weight range is 15-22.5kg (33-50 lbs) and the mature female weight is 10-17.5 kg (22-38 lbs). The head is large and wedge-shaped. The nose is black. The skull is wide between the ears. The almond-shaped eyes have a lively and intelligent expression. The teeth meet in a scissors bite. The neck is of moderate length, strong, and muscular. The shoulders are long and sloping and the upper arm is straight. The chest is deep and broad. The back is strong and level. The loin is deep. The tail is of moderate length, set moderately high, and is carried in a stiff plume. The forelegs are straight and parallel. The feet are round and compact, with arched toes.
