Spanish Greyhound History
The Spanish Greyhound is a non-sporting sighthound that is closely related to the Whippet. Like its cousin, the Spanish Greyhound prefers to run with its head down, rather than with its head held high. Today, there are two main varieties of the Spanish Greyhound, the Common (or Purebred) Spanish and the Miniature. The Common (or Purebred) Spanish has a weight range of 10 to 12.4 kg (22 to 28 lb), while the Miniature has a weight range of 4 to 7.7 kg (9 to 17 lb). The Breed Standard for the Common (or Purebred) Spanish calls for a dog with a short, smooth coat, a graceful, athletic build, and an elegant appearance. The Breed Standard for the Miniature calls for a dog that is slightly smaller in size, with a more cobby, stockier body, and a slightly coarser coat.

Spanish Greyhound Temperament and Behaviour
Spanish Greyhounds are sweet, gentle, loving, and devoted. They are wonderful companion dogs and are happiest when they are with their family or human friends. They do well with children and other pets, and are even-tempered and friendly with everyone.
Spanish Greyhound Activity Requirements
Spanish Greyhounds are small, slender sighthounds that originally had a career as a hunting dog. Today, they are a popular house pet. They are known for being intelligent, alert, and friendly. Spanish Greyhounds do best when they have access to a yard. They thrive on having a job and will need a daily walk or the opportunity to play. They love to run and will enjoy a good game of fetch. If you live in an apartment with a limited amount of space, a greyhound may not be the best dog for you. They do require regular exercise and would benefit greatly from having a fenced yard.
