Springerdoodle History
The Springerdoodle is a mixed-breed type of dog that results from breeding a purebred English Springer Spaniel with a purebred Poodle. The origin of the term “Springerdoodle” is unknown. It is believed to be a portmanteau of the words “springer” (a Pointer or Retriever) and “poodle”. When the term was coined in the mid-1990s, it was used to describe any hybrid between a poodle and a springer. The published history of the springerdoodle is relatively recent. The first recorded use of the term “Springerdoodle” was in 1994. The first known reference to the springerdoodle as a distinct type of dog was in 1998.

The Springerdoodle is a medium-size hybrid breed that typically stands between 18 and 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs between 65 and 80 pounds. The males are usually larger than their females. They have a medium build with a rectangular-shaped body and a thick, soft, wavy or curly, slightly shaggy, light or dark colored coat. Their head is large, with a moderate stop, and their eyes are dark brown. They have a medium sized, oval-shaped nose. Their ears are medium sized, pendant and rose shaped.
