Toy Foxy Rat Terrier History
The Jack Russell Terrier and the Fox Terrier are two of the most popular working terrier breeds. The Jack Russell was the English descendant of the now-extinct English White-Hart. The Fox Terrier was the larger version of the now-extinct White-Faced Black and Tan. The ancestors of the Toy Foxy Rat Terrier probably included some Bloodhounds and Beagles as well. The origin of the name “Rat-Terrier” is unclear. One theory claims that the name comes from its use by professional rat-catchers in the British Isles. Another theory is that the name comes from the terrier’s ability to kill rats. The Toy Foxy Rat-Terrier was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 2005.

Toy Foxy Rat Terrier Temperament and Behaviour
The Toy Foxy Rat Terrier is a playful and mischievous breed of small dog. They are quick to learn, but need firm and consistent training and socialization to develop into well-adjusted, well-behaved adult dogs. They are confident and outgoing, but can be shy with new people. They are generally well behaved around children, but should be supervised with younger children due to their small size and feisty behavior. They are sociable with other dogs and animals and make good companions.
Toy Foxy Rat Terrier Activity Requirements
The Toy Foxy Rat Terrier is a tiny dog that weighs less than 10 pounds, making them a good choice for people who are looking for a lapdog or a companion. Despite their small size, they do require a fair amount of exercise and mental stimulation to remain healthy and happy. A good way to meet these needs is with daily walks or indoor play sessions. This is the best way to ensure that your Foxy is tired out after a long day. A Foxy that doesn’t get an adequate amount of activity is prone to becoming destructive and can develop behavior problems. While a Foxy does enjoy being with their family, they can be stubborn and willful. They need an owner who is willing to be a strong, assertive leader and who will use positive training methods.
