Wire Jafox History

The Wire Jafox is a breed of small, wire-haired fox terrier developed in Hungary. In the United States, they are also known as the Hungarian Terrier. The Wire Jafox is actually two different breeds. The original, larger type is called the Leányfalu. The smaller, more common type is the Mármas. The history of the Wire Jafox begins near the end of the 18th century. In 1795, the Habsburg emperor, Joseph II, ordered that all the hounds of Hungary be brought together, and the best specimens be sent to Vienna. In 1807, a canine enthusiast and breeder named Count József Báthory assembled 14 different varieties of Hungarian hounds, and established the Magyar Vanóc kennel near Budapest. Breeding began in 1808, and by 1830 the kennel had over 40 members.

Wire Jafox Activity Requirements

The Wire Fox Terrier is a small, agile dog that was originally bred to hunt. Today, they are popular house pets and companions. They are also known for being intelligent, fun-loving, and spunky. While a Wire Fox Terrier may need less activity than other breeds, they still need to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. A daily walk or jog is ideal, but they can also do well with shorter walks or games of fetch. If you are looking for a terrier that doesn’t require a ton of exercise and won’t take over your entire home, a Wire Fox may be the right dog for you. While they don’t require a ton of activity, they do need plenty of attention and affection.
